With Dover a major hub for the European haulage and logistics there is a high demand for automotive engineering skills.  The Port of Dover handles over 2.4 million HGVs annually, along with a further 2.4 million cars and over 96,000 coaches.  

As the 'Gateway to Europe' Dover is home to a number of major haulage firms operating large vehicle fleets that require regular maintenance.

Advances in automotive engineering, including the widespread use of computer technology, means that automotive engineering is highly skilled.  East Kent College has invested in new, state-of-the-art automotive workshops at its Dover campus, and offers a wide range of courses and apprencticeships.
